Linda was raised in the Eckville area on a mixed farm by parents William and Jean Shippelt, also avid chariot and chuckwagon competitors. In the early years Linda trained ponies and raced chariots, then met husband Marvin. He was instrumental in moving both Linda and himself into the chuckwagon seat. Linda was Runner-up Rookie Chuckwagon in 1990; won Best Dressed Wagon in Medicine Hat; raced in the Dash for Cash in Rockyford 2003 and continues to compete on the circuit.
